Dr. Hess seemed in a rush. She literally spent 3 1/2 minutes with my elderly Uncle, who I am his POA for health and I have been a HCP working with a variety of doctors for over 40 years so I am very aware when a doctor is brushing someone off. She never showed any empathy or discussed how he ended up in hospital for a week, within 24hrs of his eye surgery, due to a sudden bowel obstruction. She brushed off the idea of tinted prescription glasses, although we mentioned that he struggles to keep his eyes open for longer than a few seconds because he finds fluorescent lights and regular daylight too bright, She just said to do his drops twice a day and soak the eye a couple times a day with a warm compress, which his nurses at his retirement home have been doing for two years to no avail. It was obvious that she was busy because she had an extremely fully booked patient waiting room but this does not mean you don’t take 5 minutes to talk to your par on how he’s managing with his eyes.
