Oaklawn was founded in 1925 as a 12-bed hospital in a residential home, funded by a group of visionary philanthropists. Now, almost ten decades later, we’ve evolved into a highly regarded regional health care organization, licensed for 77 acute care beds and a 17-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. We’ve continued to be an independently owned not-for-profit hospital, with our main campus residing on the same site as the original hospital, providing facilities, equipment and technology that are usually only found at larger health systems.

After waiting for hours, an ER doctor entered the room and told me to go home without so much as treating or cleaning my severe chemical burns. Then you send me a bill when you did nothing! An ambulance driver saw me and took me to their rig later on and helped. He provided gauze, bandages, antibiotic cream and didn't charge me a thing. Oaklawn DO BETTER!

I was in the waiting room for 5 hours with no updates or communication as to why I was there for so long. After 3.5 hours I had labs done and was sent back to the lobby. I have portal access so I got my results and sent them to my niece who is a doctor in another state because I had no idea when I was actually going to be seen. At one point a young woman came in after I had been there 4 hours and she was possibly having a miscarriage. They just left her in the lobby. They did her labs and I was so relieved that she didn’t appear to have portal access otherwise she would have gotten possibly devastating results surrounded by strangers. Heartbreaking. After 5 hours I was taken back to a room and told my test results looked good (even though they didn’t) and that there was nothing they could do. I was directed to the ER by Dr. Burtrum’s team because of an issue that clearly was significant enough for them to send me to the ER. I was discharged after 6.5 hrs receiving no help. Frustrated.

The urgent care doctor was concerned i was having stroke symptoms and told me to go to the ER. But all ER was concerned with was major stroke symptoms not mini strokes.

The ER department wasn’t busy so I was seen right away. Nurse was extremely knowledgeable and really good at her job.
Attending physician was good. No issues with communication and care at all.
