He went to medical school at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington D.C. and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. He did his ophthalmology residency at Columbia University, Harkness Eye Institute and his glaucoma fellowship at UC San Diego Shiley Eye Institute.
