Dr. Yvette A. Ortiz is a graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, 1990, and completed her Internal Medicine residency at NYU. Dr. Ortiz is passionate about Medicine and takes immense pride in motivating her patients and measurably improving their health. During the past nine years she worked in an academic setting at Columbia University. There she cared for adult patients of all ages, taught doctors in training, and developed a Telemedicine program which grew and now serves a large population in Northern Manhattan. This program became an invaluable resource during the COVID 19 Pandemic.
Doctor Ortiz has a strong interest in Obesity and Diabetes. Before coming to Columbia University, she ran a medical practice where she implemented population health programs in diabetes. New York City’s Department of Health chose her clinic’s Diabetes Prevention Program as a Best Practice Model which they promoted to other physicians in New York City.
Dr. Ortiz’ husband, Emilio, is also an Internist and they have two daughters in college, Clarisa and Elisa and a son, Alex, who is an aerospace engineer. Dr. Ortiz loves to take long walks, train at the Gym, and encourage good nutrition and exercise for her patients of all ages. She believes that those are the two keys to good health and disease prevention.
