A native of Delray Beach, FL, he received his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College and his medical degree from Meharry Medical College. His Internal Medicine residency was completed at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.
Dr. Norris served in the United States Army for nine years. He spent three years at Fort Campbell as the Chief of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed a Gastroenterology fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and an Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Training Program at the University of Maryland. The majority of his remaining time on active duty was spent in an academic setting, conducting research and teaching gastroenterology fellows. He held academic appointments as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at both the Uniformed University of the Health Sciences and Georgetown University School of Medicine.
He has published in peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented abstracts and research at national meetings. He was appointed Director of Endoscopy at Walter Reed and had the unique experience of serving as the personal gastroenterologist for military flag officers and members of the U.S. Senate and Congress. Dr. Norris is an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, having served a combat tour with the 1st Cavalry Division in 2009, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
Dr. Norris has been practicing gastroenterology in the metropolitan Atlanta area since 2016. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children and is an avid runner and fitness enthusiast.
