Dr. William Lawrence attended the University of Southern Mississippi before completing medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He then went on to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency in Kansas City, Missouri, where he met Dr. Patrick Boyett. Dr. Lawrence moved to Jackson, MS and worked as an orthopaedic surgeon there for 5 1/2 years.
Dr. Lawrence and Dr. Boyett founded OrthoSports Athens in 2011, and Dr. Lawrence moved to Athens in 2012. Dr. Lawrence is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Lawrence enjoys spending time with each patient and helping them improve their mobility and function. He practices general orthopaedics and focuses his practice on Total Joint Replacement, Sports Medicine, and Hand Procedures.
Dr. Lawrence enjoys spending time with his wife Lynn, son William, and daughter Claire. Bill is an avid outdoorsman who loves to hunt and fish. He also enjoys spending time at the farm he owns with Dr. Boyett.

Loved him. Listened then explained problem and showed me on xrays. Explained options starting with least invasive that we were going to try. Felt very confident he knew exactly what was wrong. Didn"t make me feel like I was over reacting when I told him the severity of the pain like my regular doctor did with 'you are just getting older and being in pain is part of it.'

One of the best doctors I’ve been to. He’s patient, kind and understanding. He listens closely and does not waste time or make you feel rushed.
He took alot of time with me and explained it to me where I understood
Love him great bed side. He tells you like it is. He dont no sugar coat it . I truly respect him and I tell everyone about him too
