Dr. William Higginbotham III is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with over 20 years of clinical experience specializing in total knee and hip replacements.
Dr. Higginbotham received his orthopedic residency at the Detroit Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident. Prior to his residency, he completed his surgical internship at Mount Carmel Mercy Hospital. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College Of Medicine and his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University.
Dr. Higginbotham has received numerous recognitions, including “Top Doctors of Metropolitan Detroit” by Hour Detroit, “Best Doctors” by Metro Detroit Survey U.S. News, and World Reports. In addition, he has been honored for the last seven years as the Consumer Research Council of America’s Guide to America’s Top Physicians.
Dr. Higginbotham is an active fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and American College of Surgeons (ACS) and is a member of various associations including the American Medical Association (AMA), Mid-America Orthopaedic Association (MAOA), American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), and Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS). He is currently Program Director for the Michigan Orthopaedic Association.

I would recommend Dr H and the CORE to everyone that has problems with knees. I am so happy with my new hips and the hip problem has disappeared

Dr. Higgenbotham, Great news 🗞️! I was in your office on Thursday, June 27, 2024. We're both so shocked to hear of your upcoming retirement. So sad to hear, but happy for you. My mother was a long time patient, of Dr. Higgenbotham. He had performed the total knee replacement, way back in the day. She still talks about it, she said, she would do it all over again. She still would go in for check ups. This Fourth of July 🇺🇸, my mother will be turning 💯 years young who will be entering a new era of her life. I have been a patient of Dr. Higgenbotham for only a couple of years, with Core Institute. Dr. Higgenbotham, you will be truly missed by your many patients, & colleagues. Dr. Higgenbotham, cared for his patients, with a beautiful personality. Rest, travel, & visit our wonderful world. Much needed and well deserved. We wish you ALL the best happiness. I greatly appreciate Dr. Higginbotham, He gave me my life back on the right side hip replacement, I need him to do my left hip, I know he's retiring, he's a excellent excellent doctor.
