Dr. Wilfredo R. Ramos, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.'s journey through medicine has been as interesting as it has been fulfilling. After he graduated from Loyola University, New Orleans, with a bachelors in Biology in 1992, he immediately enrolled in Medical School in Puerto Rico, to be closer to his family, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the Central Caribbean University School of Medicine in 1996. From there, he followed his calling into the field of Women’s Health, and graduated from the Tulane University OB/GYN Residency program in 2000. Over the next 5 years, he served in the US Air Force, where he helped train residents in two of their OBGYN residency programs, Keesler and Travis Air Force Bases. It was during his last 2 years at Travis where he met my wife, and we decided to stay in California for the long term.
Following his Air Force career, he worked with Dr’s Bob and Melchoine at Capital OBGYN for a about two years before opening his own private practice in the Sacramento community back in 2009. In 2012, he was recruited by Kaiser Permanente, South Sacramento, to join as Director of Complex Robotic Gynecological Surgery, a position he held until 2024. This opportunity allowed him to design, from the ground up, the Gynecological Robotic Surgery programs across all of Northern California, and help develop them to what they are today. He was able to perform the first case series ever in Gynecologic robotic surgery in Kaiser Permanente Nationwide in 2012, which led to the adoption of robotic surgery in gynecology, not only across Norther California, but also Southern California, the Mid Atlantic and Georgia Kaiser systems. However, after helping pioneer the Kaiser Permanente GYN robotics programs, and having performed over 2,000 major robotic gynecological operations, he feel it is time to come back to the Greater Sacramento community to offer his services and expertise to a broader range of patients.
Over the last 15 years, his practice has transitioned from a full scope OB/GYN practice to a more specialized practice taking care of patients with endometriosis, fibroids, pelvic masses, and other complex gynecologic surgical problems. His main emphasis continues to be on robotic surgery and fertility preservation, but he also perform other minimally invasive and office procedures, according to the patient’s needs.
"It would be my pleasure, and my honor, to help you get back to health by using the most advanced and minimally invasive surgical options available today."
