Wendell McKay, MD, FAAP

Wendell McKay, M.D., received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1988. He then graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore in 1992. After completing his pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Dr. McKay was chosen to spend an extra year as Pediatric Chief Resident. Upon returning to his home state of Maryland, he was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Maryland Medical Systems, where he worked before joining our practice in 1997. Dr. McKay is board certified in pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a member of the department of pediatrics at Howard County General Hospital.

Dr. McKay remains remains committed to being active in the community. His past involvements included serving on the Maryland State Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC) (2004-2013) and the Maryland Commission on Autism (2010-2012). He has also been a professional mentor for the Howard County Gifted and Talented High School Student/Mentor Program.

Since 2013, Dr. McKay has served as a member of Howard County’s Interscholastic Athletic Advisory Committee, the Medical Advisory Board of the MD Public School Athletic Assoc (MPSSAA), and the Medical Advisory Board of the Columbia Association, where he helped to develop the YouthFit program to help address childhood obesity in Howard County. In 2020, Dr. McKay began serving on the Local Children's Board of Howard County.

Dr. McKay lives with his wife in Ellicott City and has two adult children. He enjoys playing tennis and is an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens, the Baltimore Orioles, and the University of Maryland sports teams.
