Wei Shen, MD

As an internist at Somerton Family Medical, Dr. Wei Shen, M.D., sees patients for routine preventive care and to treat a broad spectrum of medical complaints. Whatever the reason for their visit, all his patients can expect a common experience: to be comforted, always.

Both of Dr. Shen's parents are physicians. Their influence and the example of a mentor, who treated his patients and medical residents alike with deep compassion, are reflected in how Dr. Shen approaches his practice. He cares for each patient as he would a family member.

Dr. Shen earned his medical degree from Zhejiang University School of Medicine (ZJUSM) in Hangzhou, China, and a doctorate in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Delaware. He spent his first residency in internal medicine at ZJUSM and another at Raritan Bay Medical Center. He served as an endocrinology fellow at Shanghai Second Medical University and as a research fellow in medical oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Dr. Shen also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in human genetics at the University of Pennsylvania and one in antimicrobials and host defense at GlaxoSmithKline. He has been board-certified in Internal Medicine since 2007.

Dr. Shen is an animal lover and avid gardener. He is especially pleased to be affiliated with Redeemer Health and our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. He speaks Mandarin (Chinese) and English.
