Virginia Hrywynak, D.O.

I continue to come to Ponderosa to see Dr. Hrywynak simply because she is so thorough and really understands my quirky personality and cares about me as a human being. She is a very good listener and has a wonderful way of getting me back on track when I start to wander off. Not only is she excellent so is the entire staff. I'm 65 years old and truly have never been to such a well-organized business for my medical needs. I will also want to thank Dr Ryan for taking care of my soulmates Scott Terry. His review is long overdue. Today I was helped by Helen who did an excellent job and covered everything when I checked in and checked out what a wonderful addition to the staff. Very soft spoken but knows what she's doing. I'm almost always greeted by Melissa who does my vitals and takes me back to the room and she's always very pleasant and kind. I had a wonderful experience today having my blood work taken by a floater employee from Quest. Her name is Marianne. Thank you to everybody😊

As a new patient and first time meeting her and being in the clinic, I was disappointed with her approach. She seemed very rushed the entire time, was talking incredibly fast, and didn’t seem thorough or attentive. It felt like she was trying to rush my appointment or get me out of the door quickly so that she can get to her next patient. I also found her to be condescending. When I expressed concern/curiosity about the diagnosis she gave me, the answer she gave me entailed that this is her 21st year in practice and she did a lot of years in medical school and residency. I was not questioning her training, I was questioning if she was sure as I didn’t feel like she was thorough enough in assessing what was going on with my body.

She doesn’t do adjustments anymore, she interrupted me a lot, I didn’t get a chance to really explain my problems well enough, and while she was mannered well enough, she could’ve been friendlier. In the end I paid for her to give me a short visit and say that we’ll look at things more next time. Not impressed.

I felt rushed. I happened to observe someone who entered before me left 10min after I did. She was knowledgeable, helpful, I liked her ok enough, but I was led to believe this clinic sets appts with the intention of providing more time and I did not feel that way at all today. Absolutely horrible. I waited two months to see a doctor and I didn’t even spend five minutes with her. She cared more about why my husband and I weren’t on contraceptives than the reason I was there! In fact she asked nothing related to it at all. Additionally, there’s a very friendly sign indicating to only address the reason you scheduled the appointment and to schedule another appointment if there was anything else. I do apologize, but yes something did occur to me within the last two months. I tried bringing it up with verbal respect to the message of the sign and she was so rude about it. I know doctors are busy but wow. So flabbergasted I asked the assistant if they were unusually busy this time of year and she replied, “not too busy”. So I told her Dr. Hrywynak rushed me, and she told me she’s had SEVERAL patients indicate that and that many of the staff don’t enjoy working with her. I scheduled my follow up with Dr. Wanna under the advise of more than one staff member.

I am quite disappointed in my very quick appointment on telehealth. I felt like the doctor was in a hurry to be done and didn’t remember who I was or had read through my chart. I am concerned today as I have pain in my right ear and upper jaw. It feels very full and packed. I’ve had a sore throat, dry cough and congestion and sneezing. I have a pinched blood vessel on the right side of my head which she is aware of. I am shocked that there was no conversation regarding that in conjunction with the packed feeling on the right side of my head. It seems that a look in my ears is warranted with what I was describing. It struck me as quite surprising that she could tell me that I don’t have a bacterial infection and that it’s just a viral cold that could last 2-3 weeks. All through a computer screen. I’ve not ever felt this way in my previous appts. I will try the home remedies she offered and see where this goes.

friendly, efficient, sound medical advice

I was in Dr. Hrywynak's office for a first appointment and saying I was disappointed barely scratches the surface. Dr. Hrywynak demonstrated during the less than 10 minutes she was with me that she had no time or interest in being there with me or listening to what I had to say. She asked some protocol questions, listened to my back with a stethoscope and that was it. When I tried to start a conversation to explain my medical history, she showed no interest, asked me to stop, and said she would order some lab tests and we could discuss the results in one next visit. She left the office basically without even looking at me again. I asked her back and told her that I was not only disappointed but offended by her total lack of care and interest. And I explained to her that if that was the way that clinic worked, I had no interest in turning my care over to them.

She was very nice and kind but the procedure hurt a lot because the numbness injection wasn’t working I was screaming and she continued to cut. I was very upset and was in a lot of pain throughout the day. All I ask is that next time the doctor should confirm that the numbing injection is working before proceeding. No patient should have to feel unnecessary pain when it can be avoided.
