Viraj Gokhale, DPM

Dr. Viraj Gokhale, D.P.M. was born and raised in Warsaw, Indiana. His passion for healthcare began at an early age, inspired by his own experience undergoing open-heart surgery at just five years old. This pivotal moment sparked a lifelong interest in medicine and a desire to make a meaningful impact in patients’ lives.

His journey into podiatry began after shadowing a podiatrist, where he was drawn to the unique blend of clinical care, surgical practice, and the long-term relationships formed with patients. The continuity of care and the ability to improve quality of life through both conservative and surgical approaches solidified his decision to pursue a career in this specialty.

Dr. Gokhale earned his undergraduate degree from Purdue University, followed by his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. He went on to complete a rigorous three-year surgical residency at LECOM Medical Center and UPMC Hamot, where he received comprehensive training in advanced foot and ankle surgery.

Dr. Gokhale’s clinical interests include advanced wound care management and minimally invasive surgical (MIS) techniques. He has developed specialized expertise in treating diabetic foot ulcers, pressure injuries, and wound complications, employing modern offloading strategies and biologic therapies to optimize healing. His proficiency in MIS allows for targeted interventions with minimal tissue disruption, leading to faster recovery times and improved outcomes for his patients.

Outside of his professional work, Dr. Gokhale is passionate about staying active. He enjoys playing basketball, pickleball, and golf—both recreationally and competitively—which help him stay sharp and engaged with his community. A proud Boilermaker, he is an avid supporter of Purdue University, as well as the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers. He also values quality time with his family, especially visits with his older sister and niece who live in Long Island, New York.
