After earning his medical degree from the American University of Antigua, College of Medicine, Dr. Varun Patibanda, M.D. completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the prestigious Kessler Institute of Rehabilitation – the nation’s largest rehabilitation hospital and a model system for spinal cord injury. Dr. Patibanda went on to complete his fellowship in sports medicine and interventional pain management at Pennsylvania’s OSS Hospital.

Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Patibanda went on to complete his fellowship in sports medicine and interventional pain management at Pennsylvania’s OSS Hospital under the guidance of Michael Furman, MD. Dr. Furman is also the main editor of the “Atlas of Image-Guided Interventional Procedures.” At OSS, Dr. Patibanda deepened his knowledge and skills in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and electro diagnostics, as well as a myriad of advanced fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided injection procedures for the treatment of nerves, joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscles. He spent his first two years out of training, working at a leading orthopedics and pain management practice in the greater Baltimore metro area.
Dr. Patibanda achieved board certification by the American Board of Physical Medicine Rehabilitation, and he is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine. His approach to each patient’s pain is holistic, with the focus on reducing pain and improving function – all while applying evidence-based practices.
Dr. and Ms. Patibanda live in Monterey. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to music, playing tennis, and traveling.
