Dr. Vaqar Ali, M.D. joined First Coast Cardiovascular Institute after completing cardiovascular training at the Gill Heart Institute at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. Dr. Ali completed his medical residency training at St. Vincent’s Medical Center at the N.Y. Medical College in Staten Island, New York after graduating from Rawalpindi Medical College in Pakistan. He was elected President of the house staff association at St. Vincent’s, taking on an active role in Internal Medicine residency affairs.
Dr. Ali is Board Certified in both Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Ali serves as the chairman of the Northeast Florida Cardiovascular Symposium and the chairman on the interventional review committee at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital.
He is a member of both the American College of Physicians and American College of Cardiology. He has also been the author or co-author of several articles published in peer-reviewed journals.
Like his colleagues at First Coast Cardiovascular Institute, Dr. Ali is dedicated to providing attentive care for patients and their families. “Every one of the doctors here understands how important it is for each patient and their family members to know exactly what their doctor is doing and why,” says Dr. Ali. “Patients tell us they appreciate how much time we are willing to spend with them.”
Dr. Ali has a passion for doing all structural cardiovascular procedures such as TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip which prevents patients from requiring more extensive open-heart surgery.

Dr Ali is a wonderful and knowledgeable doctor. He always treats me very special and kind and answers all my heart heart and artery related questions. He always discusses my medicine with me. His staff is also well trained. I had 2 tests recently on my aorta and the many stents. He also checked my aorta/ aneurysm tests and he made sure I was responding well. I was very relieved to hear the good news. He will be following up in 6 months. I know I am in good hands with Dr Ali, Dr Lamba and the rest of the great staff. Thank you.
