Following his undergraduate studies, he completed a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, studying the biology and immunology of cancer. His time in clinical research provided an early appreciation for the practice of evidence-based medicine and the desire to continually improve the lives of the individuals he treats.
After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, he completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. There, he was trained in all aspects of musculoskeletal care including complex upper and lower extremity fractures at a level one trauma center, treated patients with athletic injuries alongside physicians of professional sports teams, and cared for pediatric injuries in children of all ages.
He went on to receive additional, intensive training in hand and microvascular surgery through an exclusive fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. This specialty training provided the opportunity to work with nationally recognized surgeons on all conditions from the shoulder to the fingertips.
As a native of Valparaiso, Dr. Miller takes great pleasure in being able to return and care for individuals in and around the community he grew up in. In his practice, he is dedicated to helping patients get relief and regain function after an injury or condition has impacted their lives. He strives to ensure that each patient has a thorough understanding of their condition and their treatment options, and he works closely with them through the decision-making process in developing the best care plan for each individual.
Dr Miller is very professional and has been very personable. He explained everything very thoroughly and has been very honest and open about my procedure.
Dr. Miller is very professional and knowledgeable. I truly appreciate the fact that he sits and listens and isn't rushing off to the next patient.
Very thorough thinking! Hopefully figures out my issues!
Very professional and explained everything to
My appointment was on time. He took tome with me to explain my injury and my options to correct it. And encouraged me to do try a non invasive fix first.
Professional and very thorough
Clear communication and thorough explanation
I went and didn't get what I wanted but got what I needed. Honest opinion about my condition with my left wrist. What I think and what is fact I'm not an office worker and he stated my options. The answer I wanted wasn't their but the explanation and why was. He truly made me feel as he wanted what was best for me. The answer made sense.
He provided excellent feedback after the examination
I would like answers to questions with an ounce of certainty or confidence. I realize in medicine and specifically injuries there is no exact answer for every patient or situation, however as the Dr we look to you for guidance moving forward and the lack of any confident or straight forward answer is very frustrating.
