Following his undergraduate studies, he completed a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, studying the biology and immunology of cancer. His time in clinical research provided an early appreciation for the practice of evidence-based medicine and the desire to continually improve the lives of the individuals he treats.
After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, he completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. There, he was trained in all aspects of musculoskeletal care including complex upper and lower extremity fractures at a level one trauma center, treated patients with athletic injuries alongside physicians of professional sports teams, and cared for pediatric injuries in children of all ages.
He went on to receive additional, intensive training in hand and microvascular surgery through an exclusive fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. This specialty training provided the opportunity to work with nationally recognized surgeons on all conditions from the shoulder to the fingertips.
As a native of Valparaiso, Dr. Miller takes great pleasure in being able to return and care for individuals in and around the community he grew up in. In his practice, he is dedicated to helping patients get relief and regain function after an injury or condition has impacted their lives. He strives to ensure that each patient has a thorough understanding of their condition and their treatment options, and he works closely with them through the decision-making process in developing the best care plan for each individual.
Made some good comments that I clearly understand. I also was given my two main choices.
Exellent zer ice a d Doctor too
Very friendly and listened to all my questions.
Very helpful in answering my questions and recommending solutions
I love that he talks to you about your options, then explains everything before he does it...hes very gentle...I got a shot today to hopefully help me with some pain in my elbow, and I didn't feel a thing! Very happy with him! He's also done a carpal tunnel surgery on my left wrist and I was so happy about the way the whole thing went the last time from the initial visit, to eventually surgery, and the outcome of all of it. So it was a no brainer on why I came back for him to look at my elbow! 10 stars if I could!
Very professional and personable visit, Dr Miller spent time explaining what options I had for my hand issues. Very pleased with the overall experience and time spent with me.
A really great doctor! I like how straight he was about what was going on with my elbow.
Dr Tyler and Erik took the time to explain things to me. Felt very comfortable with them.
I Really Like Dr Miller. 5 Stars
I have total faith and trust in Dr Miller. He has performed three surgeries on me and has done fantastic each time!
