Dr. Troy W. Shepherd was born and raised in the western United States where he spent much of his time outdoor fishing, hiking, and camping with his family. He earned his undergraduate degree at Utah Valley University where he received many academic awards and scholarships. He graduated with honors with a bachelor of science degree in biology.
He was then offered a half-tuition scholarship to attend the well-known Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in North Chicago, Illinois. While receiving his professional training, Dr. Shepherd was extensively involved in campus and community life. A small part of this included being selected as the Vice President of Academics for three years running, serving as the liaison to the Illinois state Podiatric Medical Association, teaching youth courses in his church, volunteering at local athletic events, homeless shelters, and senior living communities, and much more.
After podiatric medical school, Dr. Shepherd was extended a podiatric medicine and surgery residency at Bridgeport Hospital in Yale-New Haven Health Systems, one of the most respected health systems in the U.S. During residency he served as Chief Resident and spent three intense years expanding his knowledge and honing his skills as a podiatric surgeon. He gained comprehensive training in podiatric medicine and surgery including extensive experience in wound care and healing through a three-year association with the Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine in Fairfield County and devoting time to the Connecticut Burn Center, Connecticut’s only dedicated burn center.

He has been a member of the governing board of the New Mexico Podiatric Medical Association since 2017, serves as the Co-Medical Director and on the physician panel of the Advanced Wound Center of South Central New Mexico, and has recently accepted the position as an Ambassador of American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Political Action Committee.
Today, Dr. Shepherd continues to be committed to the highest standards of care by attending the best scientific conferences on podiatric surgery and medicine, attending surgical workshops and keeping up to date on the most cutting-edge research on podiatric surgery, medicine, and wound care. He still enjoys the outdoors and any time spent with his wife and five beautiful children.
