Todd E. Fountain, MD is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery and robotic-assisted spine surgery for cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine conditions. In 2023 and 2024, he was even recognized as a Top Doctor in Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery.
At Louisiana Orthopaedic Specialists, he will help treat patients with different types of spinal issues, including herniated discs, spinal arthritis and stenosis, complex spine problems, spinal cord tumors, and peripheral nerve issues. With his unique expertise and skill set, he will work alongside our four other spine specialists to provide a comprehensive level of spinal care for Acadiana.
“LOS is accomplishing something special, and it was immediately apparent when meeting the dedicated physicians and health care staff,” said Dr. Fountain. “I knew I had found a new home and family where we could continue to grow both spiritually and professionally.”
Before joining our team, Dr. Fountain practiced for 15 years at the Semmes Murphey Clinic in Memphis, TN, which is a leading destination for neurosurgical care in the United States. He completed his medical school training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and his Neurosurgery Residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN before serving as a Professor of Neurosurgery and Director of the Neurosurgical Fellowship through the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Ready for a new adventure, Dr. Fountain and his wife, Rebecca, found that the Lafayette area and Louisiana Orthopaedic Specialists have fulfilled all of their expectations in what they are looking for in a new home. Dr. Fountain is an excellent physician. He performed a spinal fusion for me. Dr. Fountain’s nurse practitioner, Adam-Paul, was also first class. I have had extremely good results with my recovery. I am quickly returning to normal.
Very good visit
Dr.Fountain took as long as I needed to fully explain the situation with my back after a previous surgery by another surgeon. He addressed concerns I had about the condition of my back and told me what my several options were going forward. I left feeling satisfied that concerns I had were fully addressed and explained. I would highly recommend him for consultations regarding spinal issues.
Very knowledgeable and personable; Adam was great as he was very prompt in returning my calls as we worked on balancing the pain meds.
Dr Fountain and his PA Adam are very thorough and tell you the facts about what is going on with your pain and numbness and exactly where it is coming from. I had a neck fusion in August of 2025 and it helped so much. I suffered for a year and a half and in bed on a heating pad for that long. I tried many doctors with no real help until l was referred to Dr Fountain who was a miracle in my life. Thanks you Dr Fountain and all his staff. I look forward to the next chapter in my life even though it looks like l may need another surgery.
