Dr. Todd B. Abel, M.D. joined our team in 2005 after serving three years as a neurosurgeon in the US Air Force. He is also a clinical instructor at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine.
Dr. Abel earned his medical degree from Loma Linda University and completed his residency at Indiana University. His special interests are in spine surgery and tethered cord syndrome, and has completed research, presentations, and published writing on these topics. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Abel’s military background brings a new perspective to our practice.

Dr Abel is a wonderful physician. He really listens and cares for his patients. He works with the patient to develop a treatment plan. He’s been my Doctor for 15 years. He surrounds himself with an equally caring group of professionals. Thank you
I am very satisfied with care Dr. Abel and his associates have given me.
He is an amazing surgeon. Helped my husband’s back pain. The only thing I didn’t like was we never got to meet him. He has FNP’s that do all the patient meetings. Spoke to him on the phone after surgery but never met the man face to face.
He is Great in every aspect. Procedure’s, one on one explanation and communication. Also seems to be a genuinely good guy!

Dr. Abel took care to explain everything to me. I felt he was very honest and up front.
I have seen Dr Abel since 2004/5 for my many back issues. He is open and honest and doesn't preform surgery just to be doing it. Such as with my last visit. Yes I need surgery in my Torasic region but due to how hard of a surgery it is he advises me to live with as long as I can. So that's I'm going to do.
