Dr. Timothy Stapleton has his primary focus in sports medicine, shoulder reconstruction, and joint replacement. He is board-certified by American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and also holds a sub-speciality certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. Dr. Stapleton has served as the primary team physician for the Mercer University athletic program. He continues to proudly serve his Alma Mater in this capacity. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery for Mercer University School of Medicine and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery for the Uniformed Services University of Health Services.
He has authored multiple papers on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, elbow arthroscopy, and rotator cuff repair.

Dr. Stapleton has been an absolute blessing throughout the journey I have been on with double knee replacement. He is always direct and provides his patients with the information they need to make informed decisions and to also understand the process from surgery to recovery. This time last year, I did could not have ever imagined that I would be where I am now. Dr. Stapleton, thank you, bless you, and I salute you for the excellent care you have provided to me.
I actually saw Josh Mullis, Dr. Stapleton’s PA. Josh was excellent. He explained what was going on with my knee and gave me options for how to move forward. He also recommended further testing on my shoulder. I felt very well informed and look forward to having Dr. Stapleton and Josh on board for my treatment plan.
