Originally from Southern California, Dr. Louie relocated to the Reno - Tahoe area in 1997 after completing a fellowship in neuromuscular diseases at the University of Utah. Before that, he completed his BA with a combined biology and chemistry major at Point Loma Nazarene College in San Diego in 1988. Dr. Louie earned his MD at Loyola University of Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine in 1992.

Dr. Louie, is fantastic! He is so incredibly knowledgeable in his field. My mom‘s help is complicated. She has a deep brain stimulator, and Dr. Louie, makes us feel very comfortable when he is adjusting her settings. He is incredible and you will not regret seeing Dr. Louie,.

Had an appointment to review results of blood test taken one month prior. I was able to pull up the results two weeks prior to this appointment. He walked in, and stated he didn’t have the results of the blood test. He asked us about the results, and asked us how the results looked. He asked us to call the office in five days, for his evaluation of the results, all this while he was lying in his chair with his hands supporting his head. he was very disinterested. We will never go back to see him again!

He completed his internship at Loma Linda University Medical Center in 1993 before finishing his residency training at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, CA.
Dr. Louie practiced general neurology privately for 18 years before joining a Reno-based medical group in 2015. He has a special interest in neuromuscular diseases such as neuropathies, myopathies, motor neuron diseases, and myasthenia gravis. He has served as medical director of Northern Nevada’s only Muscular Dystrophy Association clinic. Dr. Louie works in cooperation with the ALS Association Nevada Chapter, operating a multidisciplinary ALS clinic in Reno.
When he is not in the office, you may find Dr. Louie cooking, hiking, biking, playing tennis, or rarely on the golf course. He's also an avid Nevada Wolfpack and West Virginia Mountaineers football and basketball fan
