Thomas Stackhouse, M.D.

Dr. Thomas Stackhouse, M.D. joined Dr. Emil Hecht and Dr. Bob Harris at Bellingham Ear Nose & Throat & Facial Plastic Surgery Inc in 1992 and has been the Senior Partner for over 10 years.

Board Certified by the AAOHNS, Dr. Stackhouse specializes in state-of-the-art endoscopic sinus surgery, nasal airway procedures, and endocrine surgery in the head and neck area. Other interests include treating complex head and neck cancer patients and providing general ENT care for members of our community. Over the years, he has also served as an active leader in the medical community in a variety of roles including as President of the Whatcom County Medical Society in 2005. More recently, he completed a 10-year commitment as a board member of the St Joseph PeaceHealth Medical Center, and previously was the founding co-chair of the Operating Room Advisory Board at the hospital.

Dr. Stackhouse did his residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. During this time, he received several Marlow Manion Awards for excellence in clinical research and finished his training as Chief Resident in 1992.

He went to medical school at the prestigious University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and earned his medical degree with AOA distinction “top 10%” in 1987. While at Michigan he met his wife Barbara who was earning her MFA in medical and biological illustration.

Dr. Stackhouse grew up in Michigan and was recruited to play football for the Flying Dutchmen at Hope College in Holland on the shores of Lake Michigan. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in the class of 1983 with a major in chemistry and served on the Mortar Board as a Senior. He and his wife, Barbara have raised three children and look forward to being grandparents someday- God willing.
