Dr. Thomas Soussou

Dr. Thomas Soussou, M.D., is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. He treats injuries and conditions of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. He has advanced training in arthroscopic and open surgery, ligament and tendon reconstruction, cartilage restoration, fracture care, and joint replacement. His approach emphasizes individualized, evidence-based care with the goal of restoring function and helping patients safely return to sport, work, and an active lifestyle.

Dr. Soussou graduated from Villanova University with a degree in Chemical Engineering, where he was recognized on the Dean’s List and served as Student Body President. He earned both his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Tufts University School of Medicine.

He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident and received both the Chief Residents Award and the Fred F. Behrens Award in recognition of his leadership and clinical accomplishments.

Dr. Soussou subsequently completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, where he received advanced training in the arthroscopic and open treatment of complex sports-related injuries. During his fellowship, he served as an Assistant Team Physician for the New York Jets and provided medical coverage at the NFL Scouting Combine, as well as for high school football and hockey programs. His experience caring for athletes has included injury evaluation, surgical and non-surgical treatment, game-day coverage, and return-to-play planning.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Soussou has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, with his research presented at national and international meetings. He remains actively engaged in clinical research and incorporates current evidence and evolving surgical techniques into his practice to provide patients with the highest quality of care
