Dr. Thomas Ebinger is a fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon. He joined Steindler Orthopedic Clinic in August 2014. Dr. Ebinger is board-certified in orthopedic surgery through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS).
Dr. Ebinger, an Iowa native, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in molecular, cellular and developmental biology from Yale University after which he attended the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Upon receiving his Doctor of Medicine degree, Dr. Ebinger went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency as well as his fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at the University of Iowa, Department of Orthpaedics and Rehabilitation.
When he’s not seeing patients, Dr. Ebinger enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, biking, golfing, and watching college sports.

Honestly, Dr Ebinger is the best of the best. Listens to the real issues, wants to help you get better and works through the steps to get you there. Even though I dont want to see someone for my hands and elbows, I'd chose Dr Ebinger time and time again! 10/10!

Dr. Ebinger came to the ER on short notice by request of the ER doctor. His treatment recommendation was well-informed and he explained in a calm and clear way. At this follow-up visit, I was particularly impressed that he came in actually having reviewed the tests/images done after he saw me in the ER the week below. I feel confident in his care, and that he really cares about his patients and his work.
Dr. Ebinger was very friendly and knowledgeable.
He was very helpful in discussing my options. The injection was minimally painful. Very nice at listening and answering my questions.
Great appointment, plan made. So easy to talk to and answered all my questions.
I decided to schedule an appt for a second opinion. Dr . Ebinger wasn’t convinced I needed surgery . He ordered an ultrasound. He explained why he was not convinced. He listens and explains. Not every dr has that great quality.
