Dr. Thai Nguyen, M.D., graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in molecular biophysics and biochemistry in 1994. He subsequently completed a residency in urology in 2003, as well as an Endourological Society accredited fellowship in laparoscopic surgery and endourology in 2004 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. As a Fellow Associate in the University of Iowa Department of Urology, Dr. Nguyen was actively involved in resident education and was voted Teacher of the Year by the urology residents.
Dr. Nguyen sub-specializes in minimally invasive surgical procedures, including laparoscopic renal surgery (nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, cryoablation/cryotherapy, pyeloplasty), laparoscopic prostatectomy and robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (a.k.a. da Vinci prostatectomy, robot prostatectomy), laser vaporization of the prostate, endoscopic kidney stone surgery, and no-scalpel vasectomy.
Dr. Nguyen is certified by the American Board of Urology. He is a member of the American Urological Association and the Endourological Society.
Dr. Thai Nguyen is affiliated with the Midwest Institute for Robotic Surgery. In order to be affiliated with the Midwest Institute of Robotic Surgery at Silver Cross Hospital, urologists must meet rigorous criteria and demonstrate excellent outcomes and high patient satisfaction.
