Dr. Sonnanstine has lectured on sports medicine topics including proper physical exam techniques, acute sports injuries and the use of biologics in sports medicine. She has been involved in concussion and sports nutrition research and is a credentialed ImPACT consultant for concussion treatment.
Dr. Sonnanstine has been an active member of several professional medical organizations including the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine. She also serves as gratis faculty for the Tulane University School of Medicine.
For her patients, Dr. Sonnanstine believes in an individualized, comprehensive approach to medical management. She enjoys developing relationships with her patients that allow her to craft a unique nonoperative treatment plan to get her patients back to their active lifestyles. She takes into account her patients’ goals and works with them to achieve success.
In her spare time Dr. Sonnanstine enjoys traveling, hiking, golf, yoga and running. She has completed multiple marathons, a triathlon, scuba diving certification, as well as a yoga teacher training program. She also enjoys watching sports as a spectator and cooking at home with her husband.
Dr.Sonnanstine was absolutely amazing! Extremely patient, well informed and very knowledgeable. My mom of 72 years was seen by Dr. Sonnanstine as recent as of today 12/12 and she could have not been more pleased and happy with her visit! I’d recommend her in a heartbeat!
