I had hip replacement surgery with Dr. Melvin. After 3 months, I can walk, I can run, I can jump, and I'm pain free. Hip mobility is not back where it once was when I was younger but it doesn't interfere with exercise or daily activities. Dr. Melvin was also excellent at answering questions and providing a clear and realistic picture of everything that was going on and I could expect.

Both the doctor and his assistant seemed very hurried. I was given an injection in my hip, but no band-aid was applied. The injection area bled, and I had to call for assistance to have the area cleaned up and bandaged. It was a stressful visit, which I had not anticipated. Only wish I had time to talk to Dr Melvin after the surgery in the hospital. His staff was very responsive especially Brad. I did try to reach Marian the other day and haven’t heard back from her. Did call as my computer was not working. Somewhat surprised no one called me when I got home to check on my progress. Like Dr Melvin but was surprised at the lack of follow up.

I had a pre-surgery appointment in the afternoon with the Dr. The office had asked if I could come in earlier. I did, and ended up waiting 50 minutes. The staff told me that he was conducting pre-surgery evaluations, and that they take time. The office should not have have scheduled me to come at the time knowing full well that he had these lengthy evaluations. Moreover, when I did finally see him, his visit with me was brief. He seemed rushed, and this is not what I expected from him.

It has been approximately 2 weeks since my total knee replacement surgery and I so far I am quite pleased with the outcome. However, the final test will be when I start walking normally and resuming my activities without pain.
