Dr. Rouse graduated magna cum laude with honors from Clark Atlanta University in 1996. During his matriculation, he was selected as a MARC and a Howard Hughes Scholar. Additionally, he spent time at Yale University School of Medicine investigating a novel polypeptide drug delivery method that utilized a unique intracellular signally system. At New York University School of Medicine, he coauthored a paper describing gene therapy in Krabbe’s Disease. With a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, he earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in 2000. After his first year at Emory, he received the University’s distinguished Medical Student Research Fellowship. Dr. Rouse later interned at Evanston Northwestern Hospital in Evanston, Ill., before completing his residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago.
After studying Vitreoretinal diseases and surgery for an additional two years at Northwestern, he coauthored a chapter on acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy, serpiginous choroiditis, and relentless placoid choroiditis in the prestigious ophthalmology text, Albert and Jacobiec. During this time, he was also a clinical instructor, aiding residents didactically and surgically.
