I am reluctant to write this review because of the power differential and the doctor’s social capital. However, I have decided to honor my feelings. I am a 60-something African American female; I had an office visit with Steven Tooze, and this was my experience on 12/6/2022. What I experienced on this and other occasions with Dr. Tooze is consistent with the AAMC studies on pain assessment and treatment: (the University of Virginia and https://www.aamc.org/news-insights/how-we-fail-black-patients-pain). Dr. Tooze listens and extends patience. However, in the final analysis, I felt his actions disregarded my personal experience with pain. In addition, there have been times in which my calls to his office for Prophylactics went unanswered . My dentists filled in those gaps.

The doctor was over an hour late and did not even apologize. If I was not there to have stitches removed, I would have walked out. Inexcusable to be this late without a phone call or even an apology. My time is just as important as his.

Detailed and interested approach. Found a small bone spur in left knee but not considered a threat to meniscus. Checked range of motion - both knees - and suggested proper approach to avoid damage to knees. Dr Tooze had been my doctor for over 10 years. Excellent.
