Dr. Steven Terranova, M.D., is currently Medical Director of Urology Services for St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. He specializes in laparoscopic and robotic management of malignant and benign urologic conditions and in the treatment and prevention of urinary stone disease. Dr. Terranova is fellowship trained in urologic laparoscopy and stone management. Dr. Terranova initiated urologic laparoscopy in Delaware. He specializes in laparoscopic kidney removal both for malignant (cancer) and benign conditions and has trained many other urologists in these techniques. As part of the kidney transplant team at Christiana Hospital, he also performs laparoscopic kidney removal for patients who wish to donate their kidneys to others.
Dr. Terranova also helped to pioneer the da Vinci robotic surgical program at Christiana Hospital and focuses on prostate removal and removal of small kidney tumors (without removing the entire kidney) with the da Vinci robot. Dr. Terranova was the first physician in Delaware to be fellowship trained in Laparoscopy and Endourology.
Dr. Terranova graduated from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA and earned a B.S. in Chemistry in 1992. He then obtained a Masters in Chemistry in 1993 also at The College of William and Mary. Dr. Terranova earned his Medical Degree at The Medical College of Virginia in 1997 and continued his higher education and completed his residency in Urologic Surgery in 2002. Dr. Terranova continued his training by completing a fellowship in Laparoscopy (minimally invasive surgery) and Endourology (scope and stone management) at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.
Dr. Terranova joined Brandywine Urology Consultants in 2003 and has been continuously awarded as one of the Top Doctors by Delaware Today since 2008.
Dr. Terranova is accepting new patients at both office locations.

I cannot say enough good things about my father’s urologist. From the very first appointment, he treated my father with compassion, patience, and genuine care. He took the time to explain everything clearly, answer all of our questions, and made sure we felt informed and comfortable throughout the process. What stood out most was his professionalism combined with kindness during a very stressful time for our family. He never made us feel rushed and always showed concern not just for my father’s condition, but for his overall well-being. We are incredibly grateful for the excellent care, knowledge, and support he provided. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled and caring urologist.

I've been going to Dr. Terranova for years and he has performed several procedures on me related to kidney stones. He has consistently done a great job. He is a very good communicator and during office visits he is professional and personable.
