Medical school followed, where he attended the University of North Carolina-School of Medicine. He then completed his internship and residency from Northwestern University Medical Center, and was appointed Chief Resident. He moved to Michigan and attend the University of Michigan-Medical Center to complete his fellowship in gastroenterology & hepatology.

He decided to move to Michigan and attend the University of Michigan-Medical Center to complete his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology.
Dr. Brackbill is board certified in gastroenterology, and currently serves as a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Greenville County Medical Society, South Carolina Gastroenterology Association, South Carolina Medical Association, and the American Gastroenterology Association.
