Dr. Helgemo is an active member of the American Society of Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is Florida’s leading endoscopic carpal tunnel surgeon, according to ACHA data. His Hand Surgery Fellowship was done at the prestigious Union Memorial Hospital, named the “National Center for the Treatment of the Upper Extremity” by the United States Congress. He returned to Florida in 1997 and started Southwest Florida Hand Specialists, now known as Florida Hand Center, in 1999. Dr. Helgemo is currently affiliated with Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Peace River Regional Medical Center, and Fawcett Memorial Hospital.
He specializes in minimally invasive techniques, offers many non-surgical treatments, and remains up-to-date in medical advancements to continue offering the best care available for his patients.

Dr Helgemo was great. He took the time to explain my conditions and go over treatment options.
I am so Please with Dr Helgemo he save me from having surgery with another doctor. ( that he told me that I need surgery.) I came to the doctor Helgemo office. On the second opinion and no surgery needed .I am so happy that came to his office. He is an excellent Doctor , thank you, Dr. Helgemo for taking care of me. I Am, Higher recommended and all the staff. are Very professional.

Dr. Helgemo and his staff are wonderful! The Dr. took his time and explained so much to me about where the tendons and ligaments in my hand are placed and how they operate. He took the time to understand my outdoors life style and set my hand up to protect it from the elements while still allowing me to function. I really enjoyed the visit. :)
