Dr. Helgemo is an active member of the American Society of Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is Florida’s leading endoscopic carpal tunnel surgeon, according to ACHA data. His Hand Surgery Fellowship was done at the prestigious Union Memorial Hospital, named the “National Center for the Treatment of the Upper Extremity” by the United States Congress. He returned to Florida in 1997 and started Southwest Florida Hand Specialists, now known as Florida Hand Center, in 1999. Dr. Helgemo is currently affiliated with Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Peace River Regional Medical Center, and Fawcett Memorial Hospital.
He specializes in minimally invasive techniques, offers many non-surgical treatments, and remains up-to-date in medical advancements to continue offering the best care available for his patients.

I have been seeing Dr Helgemo for about 2 years. I've had 1 surgery during that time. He is always professional and explains everything in a very comprehensive way. Excellent doctor. Would highly recommend him. Additionally, he has a great staff. BTW, Love the new office.
It’s hard to give a fair review since I didn’t talk to this doctor for five minutes. It was a quick in and out. I would be happy to make a review again after the procedure is over.

From the moment you walk in, you feel important and they are concerned about your health issue. Dr. Helgemo, PA, and the NP are very experienced and the plan of care is a shared-decision - you are educated on the pros/cons of that care. I have been a patient for over 15 years...The Best!
