Dr. Helgemo is an active member of the American Society of Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is Florida’s leading endoscopic carpal tunnel surgeon, according to ACHA data. His Hand Surgery Fellowship was done at the prestigious Union Memorial Hospital, named the “National Center for the Treatment of the Upper Extremity” by the United States Congress. He returned to Florida in 1997 and started Southwest Florida Hand Specialists, now known as Florida Hand Center, in 1999. Dr. Helgemo is currently affiliated with Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Peace River Regional Medical Center, and Fawcett Memorial Hospital.
He specializes in minimally invasive techniques, offers many non-surgical treatments, and remains up-to-date in medical advancements to continue offering the best care available for his patients.

VERY QUICK TO TAKE CARE OF MY PROBLEM WITH MY HAND!!
Dr Helgemo and staff are courteous knowledgeable prompt and very reassuring Excellent all around
Quality staff. Pleasant. Long wait but they had a nurse out sick so it couldn’t be helped. My diagnosis was comprehensively explained. They know what they’re doing!
I didn’t care for doctors admonishing my screams as he jabbed needles to my hand. There has to be a mouth gag, pillow , pole , teddy bear to baffle sound. But just to ask me to sit there like we’re having a cocktails doesn’t cut it for me. Pain management and doctor interaction was not good. He was more concerned about other patients hearing my suppressed pain. He had to know that I was feeling it. I’m not pissed but there has got to be a better way. Maybe accoustic baffles could be help, I know I’m not the only person who lets out a whelps. Dr. H walked out like he was pissed. No handshake or thank you. “Are you OK”. A total reverse of my last visit. Now let’s see what happens with the comments, or are they a waste of time.
Listen to your concerns and tries to treat taking those into consideration filled them full epoxy, and then as best he can. The bottom doctors who l leaves you with a high confidence level.
Great staff, very knowledgeable. Doctor was very kind and efficient.
