Dr. Helgemo is an active member of the American Society of Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is Florida’s leading endoscopic carpal tunnel surgeon, according to ACHA data. His Hand Surgery Fellowship was done at the prestigious Union Memorial Hospital, named the “National Center for the Treatment of the Upper Extremity” by the United States Congress. He returned to Florida in 1997 and started Southwest Florida Hand Specialists, now known as Florida Hand Center, in 1999. Dr. Helgemo is currently affiliated with Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Peace River Regional Medical Center, and Fawcett Memorial Hospital.
