Dr. Stephanie D. Croll, M.D., received her Bachelor of Science degree in math at Tufts University. After completing her undergrad, she graduated from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She then proceeded with a residency in ophthalmology at Strong Medical Hospital University of Rochester and a fellowship in cornea and external disease at Wills Eye Hospital.
“Everything in ophthalmology is wonderful,” Dr. Croll says. “It’s medical, surgical, and you take care of all ages. It can be very rewarding to help someone see better. Whether that’s through surgery or preserving sight.”
A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Croll’s passion for science and helping others was evident throughout medical school as she received the Sandos Award of Achievement and a summer fellowship at Duke University.
“There are many instances where people have scarred corneas or have congenital conditions,” she explains. “Some people are fearful of surgery, and they put their cataract surgery off for a very long time to the point where they eventually need to be led around. And I can give their eyesight back to them.”
Dr. Croll is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and a member of the Cornea Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Georgia Medical Society, and Medical Association of Georgia.
To stay acquainted with the latest innovations in Opthalmology, Dr. Croll attends both regional and national meetings, and reads journals. When she is out of the office, she likes to spend time with her daughter and dog. Some of her other hobbies include traveling and fishing.
