Dr. Stephane Lavoie is a fellowship trained spine surgeon specializing in the back, neck and spine.
Stephane Lavoie was born in one of North America's oldest cities, Quebec. He was raised in French Canada with his sister and three brothers. Dr. Lavoie completed undergraduate studies in pre-medicine while balancing the rigors of competing on a National Championship intercollegiate volleyball team.
Dr. Lavoie attended medical school at Laval University in Quebec and soon realized he wanted to be a surgeon of the musculoskeletal system. During his residency, Dr. Lavoie developed a love for Orthopaedic surgery because of the practical aspects it held. It was also during his residency that Dr. Lavoie met his wife Josee. They currently have one child. After completing his residency Dr. Lavoie was selected to complete a fellowship specializing in spine surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
After being heavily recruited the Lavoie family accepted the offer to relocate to the DeLand area and join the practice of Florida Orthopaedic Associates, P.A. The Sunshine State was a logical choice to the Lavoie family since many Quebekers think of Florida as a second home. The Lavoie's were also drawn to the quality of life of a smaller town and the close relationships that are so typical of our community.
Dr. Lavoie brings a new level of medical service to our patients, being the first fellowship-trained spine surgeon in the Sanford and West Volusia area. Dr. Lavoie is proud to be the newest member of Florida Orthopaedic Associates and looks forward to providing health care to the residents of Volusia County.

Dr. Lavoie listened and provided thoughtful suggestions to known problems outside his realm of expertise and prescribed next steps towards rehabilitating my neck and back problems. He let me know surgery was not needed at this time, but my condition will worsen if I don't become disciplined with a life long strengthening plan.
Highly recommend Dr. Lavoie and each of the doctors I've seen there. Awesome staff!
Worst experience waiting on hours on end to see them for a whole 5 maybe 10 min max. Then get told they are handling things do to me not being able to work and they keep dropping it. Excuse after excuse with this office
Very understanding and very thorough
I felt like he really cared about my issues
Very good doctor
Dr Lavoie, is amazing surgeon. He removed cyst that was growing near my spinal corners, my lower back. The cyst was was being like a cushion spongelike which between the two bones having degenerative disc disease, so Dr. Lavoie not only remove my cyst and also ended up hitting four screws in my back and such an amazing job that I was up and walking an hour after surgery and out of the hospital. The very next morning my recovery period was wonderful. Everything went smooth. He has a wonderful bedside manner. Very nice very knowledgeable, and again an amazing surgeon. Unfortunately I have to have another surgery in my neck. However, I am not concerned about Dr. Lavoie doing the procedure. Thank you Dr. Lavoie and of course your amazing staff and Paula your scheduler.
Answered all questions, easy to understand answers . I have recommended him to others.
Was kind of rude to me and clearly valued his own time more than mine, I wasn’t given the chance to explain my side of the story and only answered his questions. I wasn’t even seen for more than 3 minutes.
did a very fine talk.
