Dr. Stacy Tapscott, M.D., is board-certified in Orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. He has completed a shoulder surgery and reconstruction fellowship as well as a sports medicine fellowship. With this advanced training, he is able to deliver state-of-the-art care for his patients. He is a team physician for several area high schools and Calhoun Community College.
A native of Morgan County, Dr. Stacy Tapscott, M.D., received a baseball scholarship from Northwest Alabama Community College after graduating from Falkville High School. He proceeded to the University of Alabama, where he graduated Magna cum laude with a BS degree in Biology. He earned a medical degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham and completed his orthopaedic residency at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Dr. Tapscott accepted a shoulder surgery and reconstruction fellowship for an additional year at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio. He had the privilege of training under Charles A. Rockwood, Jr., M.D., and Michael A. Wirth, M.D., who are both internationally renowned shoulder specialists and have advanced the field of shoulder replacement. His love of sports led him to pursue a sports medicine fellowship with the Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic, who are the team physician for the University of Tennessee.
Dr. Stacy Tapscott, M.D., is married and has two children. He and his family are active members of First Baptist Church of Decatur. He and his wife feel blessed with the opportunity they have had to return home to North Alabama and serve their community.
