Dr. Makar’s path to Charis Neurology is defined by rigorous training and a commitment to innovation. He began his medical journey at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine before completing his Neurology residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine–Jacksonville.
To master the complexities of brain and spine cancer, Dr. Makar was selected for a prestigious Neuro-Oncology Fellowship at Stanford University. There, he trained alongside world leaders in the field, gaining specialized expertise in managing primary brain tumors (Glioblastoma, Astrocytoma) and metastatic spine conditions.
Today, he brings that same level of precision medicine to Lake Mary. Dr. Makar has served as a Principal Investigator for clinical trials involving immunotherapy and targeted therapies, ensuring his patients have access to the latest advancements in neurological care.

For the first time in eight years I have hope. I'm so grateful that Dr. Makar is determined to find out the root cause of all of my problems. Instead of just treating the symptoms. Dr Makar, asked many questions since this was my first visit. I never felt rushed and he gave me a good plan to follow. He’s very easy to talk to and a very good listener. I highly recommend his practice .
Had a 10:30 appointment and at 11:20 still had not seen the doctor. Only contact made was by me after sitting there as the desk showed no concern over my wait until I said something. Watched people come in late to appointments and go right in
