Dr. Stachler earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and worked professionally as an engineer for three years, earning a patent for one of his industrial fuel tank designs. Dr. Stachler was inspired by the care he received to repair an orthopedic injury and decided to go back to school to pursue orthopedic surgery. He obtained his medical degree from A.T. Still University in Kirksville, Missouri, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency in Chicago at Franciscan St. James Health Systems / Midwestern University.
Dr. Stachler trained in nine different hospital systems in Chicago, training with over 70 different attending orthopedic surgeons in three different Level 1 trauma centers in the third-largest metropolitan area in the United States.
His particular areas of interest include pathologies or injuries of the hand and upper extremity, including arthroscopic procedures and joint replacement techniques in the shoulder. He trained extensively in all general orthopedic sports and fracture care and minimally invasive hip replacement, as well as the latest techniques and technologies involved in knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Stachler grew up in rural Ohio, working on farms, construction sites, and in a body shop while attending school. He understands the rural work ethic and what it takes to get someone back to what they want to do. He has been an athlete at several levels, as well. He was captain of his high school football and track teams and competed in numerous triathlons through medical school, culminating in a 140.6-mile, Ironman-length triathlon race that took him over 14 hours to complete. Dr. Stachler’s other interests include building or fixing anything he can get his hands on, be it home renovations, motorcycles, or cars, with the eventual goal of building his own airplane.
With his mechanical understanding, technical skill, and attention to detail, Dr. Stachler is a great addition to the team at Tier 1 Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Institute.
Wonderfully kind and caring surgeon. Wanted the best fix for my hip repair and after listening to the pros of full hip replacement, there was no question to follow Dr. Stachler's lead. He is an excellent listener and that is always my first clue. Dr. "S" was there for the hip and me. I am so grateful for his professionalism, wisdom and God given gift for repairing what we break!
Makes you fill that you matter and listens to you.I would recommend him for his kindness and knowledge.
Doesn’t push surgery and helped with managing pain, very personable and answers all of my questions and concerns.
Dr. Stachler is a “patient” doctor. He will answer all of your questions and work with you on the correct treatment to minimize all those darned aches and pains, He understands aging and knows how we all want to keep up that active lifestyle. Thank you, Dr. Stachler!

What an angel and life-saver I was blessed with this past week. He is so kind, patient, informative of the great, bad and ugly and helps you prioritize your goals, gives immediate pain relief injections and provides surgery dates the same day-he serves all your joints except cervical/spine conditions. I was able to cancel 3 other appointments after learning he can handle everything I needed relief for, shoulders, hips, wrists/thumb joints. Thank you Dr Stachler and staff for making my life so much easier and less complicated. I have never slept so well in so many months after my injections relieved my pain.
The lady out front gave me a bad attitude
