Dr. Shahzad Ahmed, M.D., earned medical degree at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He then moved to LA where he completed residency in Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and he completed a clinical nutrition fellowship at the University of California. Dr. Ahmed moved to Georgia to complete his gastroenterology fellowship at Emory University. He served on several committees and completed specialized training in inflammatory bowel disease while visiting Northwestern University in Chicago.

Dr. Shahzad Ahmed, M.D., earned his undergraduate degree with honors in Neuroscience from Trinity College in Hartford, CT and medical degree at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut. While in medical school, he was awarded the Wellsford and Mildred Clark Medical Memorial Scholarship due to academic achievement and was recognized with honors for community service and scholarship. He then moved to Los Angeles where he completed residency in Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and he completed a clinical nutrition fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles where he served as a clinical instructor.
Dr. Ahmed moved to Georgia to complete his gastroenterology fellowship at Emory University. During this time, he served on several committees and completed specialized training in inflammatory bowel disease while visiting Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He began his career at Piedmont Healthcare where he served as the Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Piedmont Rockdale Hospital and expanded new pH testing and motility technology offerings.
Dr. Ahmed is a board-certified physician specializing in gastroenterology and hepatology. He has published numerous medical articles and presented medical research at scientific meetings. Within his specialty, he has a particular interest in the newest treatments in inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and liver diseases. He went into gastroenterology because of the ability to offer complex care while forming deep long lasting connections with his patients.
In his spare time, Dr. Ahmed enjoys hiking, reading, sports and spending time with his wife and two children.
Dr. Ahmed is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans. He sees patients in our Lawrenceville and Suwanee offices.

I’ m a first time patient and I’m very disappointed. Appt. At onetime and called back in the medical rm. 20/30 minutes later. Not very knowledgeable on certain symptoms and causes of certain false/positive results , dr. Was ready to call for and procedure quick.
