His fellowship training was in sports medicine and his expertise is in shoulder, hip and knee surgery. He is one of the few surgeons trained in hip arthroscopy that preserves the hip joint using small incisions instead of the traditional large incisions that require longer recovery times. His training also includes the use of ultrasound for diagnosis and treatment, including ultrasound-guided hip injections.
Dr. Yi has presented his research nationally and has authored various book chapters in sports medicine. During his training, he gained experience in the treatment of collegiate and professional athletes, assisting with team physicians for the Chicago Bears, Chicago Fire, and the Chinese Olympic Volleyball Team.
Dr. Yi was born in Jeju, South Korea but grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida. He obtained his undergraduate degree in biology from Emory University and earned his Doctor of Medicine from Drexel University College of Medicine before completing his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Northeast Ohio Medical University. He then completed additional fellowship training in Orthopaedic Surgery Sports Medicine at the University of Chicago, where he trained in advanced, minimally invasive arthroscopic and open techniques.
Dr. Yi enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons. He also likes to fish, hike, and play soccer and volleyball.
On time. Answered all my questions. Was not rushed through. Thank you.
Great
He is so kind and knowledgeable what he does. He treat patients with respect and dignity. He treats my both knees today. He is a best and great doctor. Thanks!
Too quick and barely made eye contact.
Great Doctor for meeting for the first time. Professional, helpful, cares and informative.
Have not
Seems to be a good doctor, didn’t get to spend much time with him today there was an issue with another patient. Maybe next time we will see.
The parking lot was so crowded I had to park across the street in the Walmart parking lot n walk across Gunn Hwy. The office had no record of the MRI for my knee. The dr said they would try and locate it. After a very long wait I finally left the patient room and found the Dr. he said they were still trying to find it. After a very long wait! I just left. The Dr was nice enough. This is the first time that I have experienced anything but excellent service 😩🤔
Doctor is very fun and professional as usual
I saw Christian Johansson today. Very nice pleasant young man. Listens to my words and concerns. He asks the right questions.
