Dr. Sejal Patel was born and raised in Long Island and graduated from Horace Mann Highschool. She then earned a Bachelor’s with a major in Biology and a minor in Psychology from Columbia University. She then completed her Doctorate of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY where she was the recipient of several prestigious scholarships and traveled internationally to provide health care to the underserved.

She completed her ophthalmology residency at Montefiore Hospital and was selected by peers and supervisors to serve as Chief Resident during her final year. Following her residency training, Dr. Patel completed a fellowship in Glaucoma back at her alma mater at the prestigious Columbia University under the guidance of world-renowned glaucoma specialist Dr. Jeffrey Liebmann.
Dr. Patel is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society. She has published numerous articles in various peer-reviewed medical journals and continues to bring research initiatives to our practice.
Dr. Patel specializes in cataract, laser refractive, and glaucoma surgeries, including minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries. She performs laser-assisted cataract surgery on as well as utilizes multifocal and extended depth of focus intraocular lens implants. Dr. Patel is also trained in glaucoma treatments, ranging from in-office procedures (selective laser trabeculoplasty, laser iridotomies, YAG capsulotomies) to minimally invasive surgeries (iStent, Kahook, Xen Gel, Omni) to traditional glaucoma surgeries including tube implants and trabeculectomy.
Dr. Patel is recently married to a fellow physician, Deepan N. Patel, M.D., who is an orthopedic surgeon in Clifton, New Jersey. The couple lives in Hudson County and in their downtime, Dr. Patel enjoys baking, working out, and traveling with her family.
