This is hard. There must be a personality conflict. Brass tacks: he ignored and decided the radiologist’s finding of a rare tumor type - TGCT- was wrong. We rushed into surgery. No biopsy to confirm the tumor type. He had no experience with a TGCT removal, which is critical to minimize recurrence. Did a great job surgically, despite a pre-op argument with me i got to hear about when he complained in my recovery area, to another person. Not cool. Audible to more than just me and about more than just me. The pathology confirmed a TGCT. My post op visit crushed me. I have a medical condition, not just a tumor. Its not a cancer, but it does require an MD relationship to manage. He offered zero resources, but did say “ they come back, but I do not think this one will”. He could not type it as “Diffuse”, which drives that claim. In a pre-surgery discussion he was very plain in his disbelief of HIS radiologist’s findings. Pre-Op he called it a “cyst” he was going after. I am astounded.

Sean Fitzpatrick, MD has always loved math and science, which led him to study chemistry in college. While he enjoyed working in a lab after graduation, he realized he wanted more personal connection with those around him and knew that healthcare would be a great fit. Around the same time, he sustained an ankle injury that would eventually require surgery. As a fitness enthusiast, this injury made him acutely aware of mobility's importance. That's when he knew he would dedicate himself to a career in orthopedics, helping his patients regain their stride.
Now, as a specialist in sports medicine, he enjoys helping athletes, weekend warriors, and active individuals get back to the activities they love, whether that's competitive sports, recreational activities, or something as simple as being able to walk around the neighborhood without pain. During his career, he has been a team physician and cared for many athletes, including the Pittsburgh Pirates, Ohio State University, Olympic athletes, and many others. Since he knows first-hand the agony of having his mobility taken away, he takes great pride in helping athletes and patients return to doing the activities they love.
Dr. Fitzpatrick takes an individualized approach to each patient and problem, working with his patients to understand their goals and help them return to their highest level of function. He prefers a non-operative approach when possible but does realize that sometimes surgery is the best option. His advice to patients on maintaining healthy joints and bones is simple: a nutritious diet, being physically active and maintaining healthy body weight.
Dr. Fitzpatrick and his wife are happy to raise their growing family in Reno. He discovered Northern Nevada while attending the University of California, Berkeley, when he and his friends would take weekend trips to the Biggest Little City to play. In addition to 300 days of sun and abundant outdoor activities, Dr. Fitzpatrick appreciates how friendly the community is. While he enjoys many opportunities to get outside, his favorite activities include mountain biking and snowboarding. The Fitzpatrick family also enjoys hiking, bike rides, and trips to the beach.
As much as he appreciates the outdoors, Dr. Fitzpatrick is equally passionate about giving back. During medical school, he traveled to Honduras with the Global Medical Brigade, where they provided basic medical care for several thousand people. He helped the community build small homes, bathrooms, and community kitchens. The trip reinforced his need to give back.
