Education and Training
Born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Dr. Dart graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science degree from James Madison University. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at Virginia Tech’s Carilion School of Medicine where he was at the top of his class and inducted into the esteemed Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society. While at VTC, he was honored by his peer election into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for his exceptionally compassionate care for his patients.
Dr. Dart completed his orthopedic residency training with OrthoCarolina at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. Following residency, he completed his fellowship training in Sports Medicine surgery at the University of Virginia. During fellowship, Dr. Dart specialized in returning patients back to a high level of activity through some of the most innovative surgical techniques available today.
Dr. Dart has taken care of athletes at the professional and amateur levels and is part of the EmergeOrtho team that provides care for local high schools and UNCW Athletics.

Cartilage injury to the ankle, knee or shoulder
Comprehensive shoulder surgery
Minimally invasive (arthroscopic) rotator cuff repair/labral repair
Complex open surgery including bone grafting or joint replacement

Postless hip arthroscopy for labral repair and femoro-acetabular impingement
Multi-ligamentous knee injuries
Patellar dislocation and/or trochlear dysplasia surgery (Trochleoplasty)
Direct anterior approach hip replacements
Outpatient/Same-day joint replacements
Partial (unicompartmental) knee replacements
Robotic-assisted joint replacement
Outside of the operating room, Dr. Dart enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys.
