He’s a magician & I am forever indebted to him. My foot was severely injured & I thought that it might be irreparably. He explained thoroughly to me what his plan was & then executed to perfection. I am two weeks out of surgery and they removed the splint today. Even though it still hurts, I couldn’t believe the range of motion I already have. Thank you, Dr. Youngblood.

Dr. Scot A. Youngblood, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist. He earned his Bachelor’s in Biology and his medical degree from Duke University, graduating in 1997. Supported by Navy scholarships, he began his surgical training as a newly commissioned Lieutenant in the Medical Corps at Naval Medical Center San Diego. After his internship, he served as a Naval Flight Surgeon for three years before returning to NMC San Diego for his orthopedic residency, which he completed in 2005.
His first tour of duty as an orthopedic surgeon was at Naval Hospital Pensacola for three years. He then returned to San Diego, joining the faculty at his former residency, where he instructed on Foot and Ankle and Sports Medicine. He further specialized his training by completing a fellowship in Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgery in Charlotte, North Carolina, with OrthoCarolina.
After his fellowship, he worked at NMC San Diego as the senior Foot and Ankle surgeon, a role that included seven years as Chairman of the Orthopedic Department. He retired in November 2021 as a decorated Captain with 25 years of service, which included a seven-month deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan, in 2012.
Dr. Youngblood is board-certified in both General Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, with decades of clinical experience. He currently resides in Coronado, California, with his family, where he is an active community participant. He serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster in the local Boy Scout Troop and is a Trustee and Vice-President of the Coronado Unified School District Board.
