Dr. Scot Yap received his Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis on Biotechnology and a minor in Chemistry from the University of Nevada. During his academic and residency training, he was exposed to the latest technology in eye care and worked closely with retina, glaucoma, and anterior segment specialists in managing ocular diseases of our United States Veterans, including cataract pre- and post-operative care. Dr. Yap’s areas of expertise include comprehensive eye examinations, specialty contact lenses, diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, uveitis, corneal dystrophies, and dry eye syndrome.
Dr. Yap is a member of the Connecticut Association Optometrists. He is also a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa and Gold Key honor societies. He plans to continue his academic pursuit by completing a fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Yap gives back by volunteering for Middletown’s health department by performing vision screenings for the town employees, woman’s health events, and the kids health and safety day. Dr. Yap also educates our community with articles in Events Magazines and visits to our local senior centers and schools. On his days off he enjoys traveling, staying active, and a variety of outdoor activities.
