Dr. Sanjay K. Gupta, M.D. is currently the section chief at Danbury Hospital. He completed a two-year fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. He specializes in Hip and Knee Surgery, including Minimally Invasive and Robotic-assisted Joint Replacement, Revision Hip and Knee Replacement, and Outpatient Joint Replacement.
He completed a two-year fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. He completed his orthopedic residency and a Master’s in Orthopaedic Engineering at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, UK. Dr. Gupta serves as Medical Director for Joint Replacement at Danbury Hospital and is an assistant professor at the University of Vermont School of Medicine.
He has won several awards for his research on hip and joint replacement and has presented to both national and international orthopaedic forums. His research has also been published in numerous medical journals. He was voted one of Connecticut Magazine’s Top Doctors from 2014 -2017. Dr. Gupta is widely recognized as one of the top joint replacement surgeons in the state.

No pain at all
Just had knee replacement surgery with Dr Gupta at lighthouse surgical center post op 9 hours so far so good Dr Gupta in my opinion is the go to guy very nice but also all business I’m confident he did a great job

Dr. Gupta is without question the BEST orthopedist in Connecticut! We are so very fortunate to have him in the Greater Danbury area. He is kind, compassionate and thorough and his knowledge is unsurpassed.
It was a pleasure to meet with Dr. Gupta. He is a professional and competent doctor with excellent patient manners. He was friendly, kind and I am pleased to have him as my Orthopedic doctor.
Dr Gupta, has done my left knee replacement, and there were other Dr’s that had to engage with the final surgery for other reasons, 2022. Now today 2026 of January. I need it a right hip replacement and no other. It’s the same doctor Dr Gupta he’s practically like Family so he is the best doctor and well known when it comes to these surgeries

Dr Gupta is a very nice doctor. He explains everything to you and offers all kinds of things that can helped you. Very honest and has a great bedside manner. I really liked him a lot.
He is professional, takes the time to explain everything, choices, further trsts if necessary. One leaves with comfort that all your questions have been answered and what your choices for further treatments are.
