I’m so glad I got a second opinion on my hand and couldn’t have asked for a better surgeon than Dr. Collins! I knew I was in good hands from the first visit. She’s easy to talk to and instantly made me feel comfortable. I appreciated the time she took to explain everything clearly. Her expertise was obvious, and when she said she could fix just about anything, I believed her.
The surgery took about an hour and went very well. My hand is healing with minimal pain after the fourth day, and Dr. Collins kept me comfortable and at ease throughout. My stitches were removed nine days later, and I start physical therapy in four days.
Pre-op labs showed elevated liver enzymes, which may have saved my life. I’ve now been 14 days without alcohol and am carefully avoiding anything that may harm my liver.
The staff is friendly, organized, and made every appointment seamless. I truly appreciate Dr. Collins and her team for taking such great care of me!

Since moving to beautiful Fort Myers, Dr. Collins has focused her practice on reconstruction and rehabilitation of traumatic injuries and arthritic conditions of the hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow, nerve and tendon injuries, work related conditions, and congenital differences of the hand and upper extremity. Sandra Collins, M.D. received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, after which she worked at The Johns Hopkins University, performing microbiology research on retroviral diseases. She then attended University of Maryland Medical School, and stayed in Baltimore to do her orthopedic residency at University of Maryland Medical System, which included achieving a certificate in Orthopaedic Traumatology from The Shock Trauma Center.
