Dr. Samera Kasim is a Fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in hand and upper extremity conditions as well as sports injuries and arthritis of the knee.
She completed her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University in College Station. Dr. Kasim earned her Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth.
At Midwestern University, Dr. Kasim completed her residency training in orthopedic surgery followed by advanced Fellowship training in upper extremity at the San Francisco Shoulder, Elbow & Hand Clinic. Dr. Kasim practices general orthopedics and sports medicine with concentrations in shoulder, elbow, and knee problems.
She was named to the Sigma Sigma Phi Honorary Medical Fraternity and has been selected for Cambridge Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare from 2008 to 2015. Dr. Kasim is involved with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Kasim is a member of the medical staff of Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, Monterey Peninsula Surgery Centers, and Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
Her hobbies include exercising, travel and cooking.

Dr. Kasim was very polite and professional. She answered all of my questions and put me at ease. In addition, I requested a purple cast and she and her staff were diligent in searching for the purple casting material.
As a 1st time patient she made an absolute professional and confident impression. Engaged & empathic as I explained my history of being injured while serving in the USAF in Iraq. Thoroughly explained her impression of the condition of my shoulder and although I too am a clinician, Dr Kasim showed her patience by taking time to not assume the extent of my medical/surgical experience but spent time explaining her plan of care to me. Excellent impression!
Dr Kasim was very helpful and provided very clear information about my treatment options . Very helpful, I’m looking forward to learning more.
I dont doubt the professionalism of the Doctor. And she tested me and told me what was my problem in her opinion, but overall the appointment felt very very rushed. She was with me literally 5 minutes and was rushing away, I didn’t have enough time to process what she was saying and couldn’t ask additional questions. May be it is a policy of the facility, that Doctors must rush so much that they have only 5 minutes for a patient. It seems very inconsiderate, knowing how much does the doctors visit cost. Its strange that you have a doctor for 5 minutes only and you feel stressed and rushed seeing how doctor is rushed. I think that Doctors must ask at least a question: “do you have any questions?”, “is everything clear?”. I was disappointed with such attitude, even if doctor is 200% sure sbout diagnosis, she must have time for patient questions.
She is very personable and explains things in normal talk so it’s understood. She not taking any unnecessary risks that I don’t need

Dr Kasim took time out of her busy schedule to get me into her office for an appointment the same week I called. Her service was professional and I clearly understood what the plan was moving forward. Thanks again!
