Dr. Saad Juma, M.D. received his MD degree from Baghdad University Medical College and completed his urology residency at Queen’s University. Dr. Saad Juma, M.D. received his MD degree from Baghdad University Medical College, and completed his urology residency at Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada in 1989. He then served as an instructor and fellow in Female Urology, Neurourology, and Reconstructive Urology at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1989-1990. Dr. Juma then joined the Faculty of Urology at the University of California, San Diego (1990-1995). During his tenure at UCSD he served as the chief of Urology at VAMC.
In 1996 he established the Incontinence Research Institute focused on advancing the healthcare of women in the field of urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse through clinical trials and research. He has served as the Chief of Urology (2004-2006), the Chairman of Surgery (2006-2008), and Director of Operative Services Care Line (2015-present) at Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas, California.
Dr. Juma is a member of several professional societies, and is a member of the American Urological Association Update Guidelines Panel for the Surgical Management of Stress Urinary Incontinence. He is also certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology with subspecialty certification in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS). He has served as a moderator and a member of expert panels in numerous national and international meetings. He is a reviewer to several scientific journals. He has authored or co-authored over 60 peer reviewed articles, abstracts, textbook chapters, and presented in over 100 national and international meetings on issues related to urinary incontinence, pelvic floor prolapse and neurogenic voiding dysfunction.
