He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery, where he received the Lewis Clark Wagner Award for Excellence in Translational Research.

He then completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at HSS, serving as a co-chief administrative fellow and as an assistant team physician for the New York Mets and New York
Red Bulls. His experiences as a top collegiate and professional athlete give him unique insight into the demands of high-level sports and inform his approach to helping athletes and active patients return to peak performance safely and efficiently.
Dr. Thacher is deeply committed to advancing the field of orthopedic surgery through research. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles and continues to actively engage in research endeavors, focusing on innovations in sports medicine, surgical techniques, and strategies to improve patient outcomes.

Very happy with Dr. Thatcher. We've come up with a good treatment plan for tackling two separate issues. He doesn't push for surgery.
