Dr. Ryan S. Smith, M.D. is a native of Kalida, Ohio. After graduating magna cum laude from The University of Toledo with a degree in bioengineering, he completed medical school at The University of Toledo College of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency training at Beaumont Health in Detroit, Michigan where he represented his co-residents as Junior Chief Resident and Senior Chief Resident. He then spent an additional year of fellowship training focusing solely on adult reconstruction orthopaedic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. During training he participated in academic research and a medical mission trip. He participated in the operative and non-operative treatment of degenerative conditions about the knee and hip. He also treated patients with history of prior knee and hip arthroplasty who required revision surgery. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
He specializes in arthritis and total joint replacement of the knee and hip. His clinical and surgical focus involves primary knee and hip replacement, direct anterior total hip replacement, partial knee replacement, robotic assisted joint replacement, revision knee and hip replacement. He also manages adult and pediatric general orthopaedic trauma and provides operative and non-operative care of upper and lower extremity injuries.
Dr. Smith is excited and proud to return home to practice orthopaedic surgery. Today, he remains focused on using what he’s learned through care of the entire spectrum of orthopaedic surgery patients to optimize orthopaedic care for his patients. He now resides in Findlay with his wife, Brittany, and four daughters.
